A Message From the Campaign Chair
All of us have been personally touched by cancer, diabetes, HIV/AIDS and other life-threatening diseases. They take the lives of our loved ones, leaving behind devastated families and futures forever changed.
City of Hope is steadfast in its commitment to prevent this pain and suffering, and this dedication is made all the more remarkable by its profound compassion, decades-long history of making new discoveries and successes in the development of more effective treatments for patients.
I came to know City of Hope through my involvement in the National Insurance Industry Council, a corporate fundraising group that has supported City of Hope for more than 32 years. In 2006, I was honored to receive City of Hope’s Spirit of Life award. Around that same time, my wife Sue was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Though we lived three-thousand miles away from City of Hope, their wonderful physicians provided us counsel and support as Sue bravely fought her battle. She lost that battle in 2008 and it is this great loss that has compelled me to do even more to help conquer cancer.
As national chair of the Power of Hope $1 billion fundraising campaign, I invite you to join with me in supporting this ambitious and critical initiative. City of Hope has the determination, the unparalleled talent and the institutional vision to make extraordinary scientific progress. Gifts of all sizes to the campaign will make this possible.
Together we will reach our $1 billion goal and demonstrate the power that hope has to save lives around the world.
Thank you for your support.
